How we compare
Not all live cultures are created equal. Gutcultured isn’t just “science-backed”, we’re clinically proven.

| Feature | Gutcultured | Other Supplements | Functional Drinks with "Probiotics" |
|---|---|---|---|
| Clinical Documentation | Backed by published clinical studies on named strains | Often generic, not strain-specific | Rarely supported by clinical trials |
| Strain Identification | Uses well-documented, clinically-researched, and most importantly, "named" bacterial strains (LGG® and BB-12®) | May list species only, without specifying strains or linked research | May list species, without specifying strains or linked research |
| Potency Guarantee | Guaranteed viable count until end of shelf life | Often labeled “at manufacture” only or not at all | Potency not usually guaranteed at consumption |
| Regulatory/Quality Status | Includes strains with QPS (Qualified Presumption of Safety) and GRAS recognition | Varies - not always QPS or GRAS confirmed | Not typically QPS or GRAS recognized |
| Survivability | Documented acid and bile tolerance; survivability demonstrated in studies | Survivability varies, not always tested | Live bacteria often unstable during processing or storage |
| Shelf Life / Stability | Stable under standard storage conditions | Stability not always validated | Requires refrigeration; bacteria may decline before consumption |
Why we built Gutcultured
A new era of gut care, built for modern life, proven by decades of clinical research.
The impact of modern life on your microbiome
Processed food, stress, poor sleep, travel and antibiotics can all place strain on your gut microbiome. When the gut barrier weakens, researchers describe a process they call increased intestinal permeability, in everyday language a "leaky gut", which clinical research links to low-grade inflammation in the body.²¹
In daily life, gut imbalance often shows up as bloating, irregular digestion, sensitive skin, and feeling more run-down. Scientists are also studying the gut-brain axis: the continuous, two-way communication between the microbiome, the immune system, and the brain.²²
Research from UZ Leuven and the Rome Foundation found that up to 40 per cent of people worldwide, and 38 per cent of adults in Belgium, meet the criteria for a disorder of gut-brain interaction (DGBI), such as bloating, constipation or irritable bowel syndrome,²³ demonstrating how a healthy microbiome is harder than ever to maintain.
For us, that figure is not just a statistic. Our founders watched people close to them move through the same cycle of bloating, irregular digestion and low resilience, before seeing what a supported microbiome and a simple, clinically backed daily routine could do. That journey became Gutcultured.
Genes matter, but only 20%. The rest? Your lifestyle.
In health, the latest science confirms that genes matter - but only 20%. The rest? Your choices. Your gut sits in the center of the 80% you control - sleep, nutrition, movement, stress, recovery, connection, purpose.
Gutcultured sits inside this bigger lifestyle philosophy - not as a magic pill, but as a precision tool that reinforces your daily choices.

Your questions, answered.
Because clinically-proven should also be clear-cut.
What makes BB-12® and LGG® better than generic live cultures?
They’re not just names - they’re clinically documented strains, backed by 500+ clinical studies and 2000+ scientific publications, and recognized by regulatory authorities like EFSA and FDA. Many products use unverified, non-traceable blends.
Why only two strains? Isn’t more better?
Not always. Many multi-strain formulas include unproven bacteria. We selected the two most researched strains with synergistic effects - simplifying without sacrificing efficacy.
Is it safe to take daily?
Absolutely. Our strains have Qualified Presumption of Safety (QPS) status in the EU and GRAS status in the US. Daily use is not only safe - it’s where the benefits compound.
What results should I expect, and when?
Most people feel lighter and more regular with consistent use over 4 weeks.
Is this safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Yes. Both BB-12® and LGG® have been safely studied in infants, children, and pregnant women. However, always consult your healthcare provider.
Can I take Gutcultured with antibiotics?
Yes. LGG® was selected specifically for its ability to survive antibiotic exposure. It's been used safely alongside antibiotics in hospital settings for over 30 years.
Can I travel with it?
Yes. Our sachets are shelf-stable for 24 months, no refrigeration needed.
